This time baby, we'll be, childproof

We finally have our stair railings installed. It was a two-step process with a few bumps along the road. The metal railings came first, and one segment didn't fit, so back it went to the shop for a few weeks. Once it came back, the company measured for the glass panel inserts and a few weeks later they arrived. As it turns out, one of the biggest panels didn't fit, so it disappeared for a few weeks (kinda like me and this blog) and a new one was installed recently.

We've wanted to have dinner parties with friends who have toddlers and puppies in tow, but it hasn't been safe enough until now. That's right, if you own a well-behaved dog, we'll invite your four-legged friend to come for dinner too. Parents of human babies and fur babies...expect an invite shortly. Even if you don't have either type of baby, we'll have you over soon as the house is finally at a point where I feel we can have people over comfortably. Translation: the powder room door now shuts firmly.

With no further ado, here are the railings in all their glassy glory. I think they were worth the wait.

Just a brief aside...I love how this Scandi-style console's wood echoes the colour of the stair treads. It was a hand-me-down from Josh's late grandma Violet. I'm thinking it might be a good spot to put out our cocktail ingredients...should we ever be posh enough to make fancy cocktails.

This is our second floor loft area - home to a very sad looking palm. I have yet to curl up with a book and a blanket here, but it'll happen.

So that's it for now. Having been MIA for a few weeks I have a lot more updates to come. The basement is now dry walled and we're in the process of getting a quote for a green roof on the garage. Check back soon...I promise not to disappear for another two weeks. :)
