It's a wrap - washi tape/glitter tape Christmas wrapping

I recently learned about the existence of this amazing stuff called washi tape when I read this post on Decor8. I did a bit of Googling and it turns out I'm a bit behind the times craft-wise as washi tape has been around for a few years.

In my quest to find the end of the interweb, I found a fun way to wrap gifts with it and was inspired to wrap my Christmas presents a little differently this year.

I checked out Michael's and couldn't find anything labelled washi tape - and with it being the first weekend in December the store was absolute chaos so I couldn't find an employee to help me. I did stumble upon some cute glitter tape though, so I figured that would work as a good substitute.

I made gift tags out of the box that my new lovely-smelling Roland Pine candle came in.

When I ran out of the candle packaging I pulled out the gift tags I bought in New Zealand and added a strip of glitter tape to tie the look together.

My only mistake was not buying enough glitter tape. I bought two rolls of three yards - not really grasping that six yards wouldn't be enough to wrap several presents. I did pick up some pretty blue ribbon, so I'll combine that with the remaining kraft paper on the last of the presents.
I also found some really cute washi tape on Etsy from Crafty Japan. They have some great patterns that would work really well on pressies year round. I can see an addiction forming already...
