A new (temporary) member of the family

I haven't had much spare time to blog lately, and the photo below explains why.

We're now foster parents to a 6-month-old shepherd mix named Sawyer. He's an adorable, friendly pup and he's adjusting well so far. We're fostering him through New Hope Dog Rescue and looking for a friendly forever home for him.

A lot of people ask why we don't just adopt him.  It's very tempting, but at the same time, New Hope needs temporary foster homes, so if we were to adopt him we wouldn't be very likely to keep fostering. It'll be really hard to see him go, but we'll make sure his new home is a good fit for him.

We weren't planning on letting Sawyer up on the couch, but he was neutered yesterday and thus has to wear the cone of shame for two weeks.  When he looked at us with those sad puppy-dog eyes (he's quite upset about the cone) we took pity on him and let him up this once.

You can't tell it from this picture - but he was pretty happy to come up on the couch for a snuggle.
