Josh bought me the typography map of Canada I had been drooling over from Bold & Noble. This UK company really knows the value of a value-add - they threw in an extra screenprint for free! I'll add a post with photos once everything is framed.
My sister-in-law bought me some fabulous bowls (one large serving-sized and four individual-sized bowls) from Ikea. Those Swedes really know what they're doing when it comes to dinnerware. I love the whimsical patterns, and how the black and white will go with everything.
The bibliophile in me was ecstatic to receive two great new cookbooks and three books on interior design & decor. I'll share the cookbooks in a later post once I've done a few recipes from each.
The interior design books are all full of fantastic ideas and inspiring photos. One of my favourite things to do is curl up on the couch with them and daydream about my next design project.
Decorate by Holly Becker, founder of design blog Decor8, and Undecorate, by Christiane Lemieux, founder of Dwell Studio. Yes, I'm aware of the irony behind these juxtaposed titles :)
Design*Sponge at Home by Grace Bonney, founder of the blog Design*Sponge. My favourite part of this book is the 50 pages of DIY project instructions which include dramatic before and after photos. I'll definitely be giving some of these projects the old college try in 2012.
In my stocking, I was super excited to find the December/January edition of House Beautiful.
Now if I could just take a week-long holiday to read all these great books and magazines, I'd be a happy camper. As a week off is not in the cards, I've made it one of my New Year's resolutions to watch less TV and read more books. Wish me luck.
Happy New Year everyone!
