Stripes & Chevrons

We have a few guests coming in the next few months so I wanted to give our guest bathroom a mini makeover.  I figured a good start would be a nice shower curtain and bathmat and I found exactly what I was looking for at West Elm.

You might recall my June post about chevrons where I posted this picture....

I decided to buy the black and white one - a small investment in chevron that still packs a punch.  While puttering around the West Elm website, I came across this awesome nautical shower curtain -

It also came in blue and yellow stripes, but I felt the grey had more of a spa-like feel to it.  I ordered both the mat and the shower curtain and they arrived in less than a week.

It's a tad wrinkly but after a few hot showers the steam should straighten it out.

Unfortunately the mat is too long to fit in front of the guest bathroom tub, so it's been relocated to the en suite bathroom, where it will actually get more use.

The colour is a great match to the shower tile.
I know what you're probably thinking...the striped shower curtain and the chevron mat would have been too much pattern for one room.  However, to paraphrase a recent comment I read on Apartment Therapy, "too much pattern is like cowbell, you can NEVER have too much."
