British Invasion

The Brits are everywhere these days - Kate and Wills' upcoming wedding is all over the news and the Union Jack is turning up in both fashion and home decor.  I'm not sure if it's my 1/4 English ancestry, but I'm loving the ubiquitousness of the British flag.

Not for the faint of heart

My cousin Kate recently asked her artist mom (Mary Lottridge) to paint some Union Jacks.

The result was pretty freakin' fabulous and Mary's paintings can be purchased on Etsy now under her shop 'brinkburndesigns.'

I knew I had to get my grubby little hands on one of these beauties...it would be perfect for above the fireplace in our new home in Saskatoon (we move in next week after a 3000km drive from Ottawa -hitting the road this Sunday).

Luckily for me, my parents have commissioned an original Lottridge painting for Josh and me as a housewarming gift.  Needless to say I'm pretty excited about it.  More to follow!
