1. Birds chirping
2. Sunshine and above zero temperatures after a long winter
3. Hearing those five magical words....'I got you a present.'
We had a very productive weekend with the condo and also squeezed in some time to enjoy the gorgeous weather. I finally finished painting the interior doors, Josh finished the new slate tile kitchen/entry way flooring, we installed a new light in the entry way, hung up the huge Ikea mirror (after drilling into concrete walls!), did a major clean up to get rid of a lot of construction dust, tossed a long dead Yucca plant and replaced it with a new Palm tree.
The aforementioned present was a beautiful Hyacinth plant that makes our condo smell amazing.
The most exciting part of the weekend was the trip we took to Josh's cousin Bridget's house to look at all her lovely Amy Butler and Joel Dewberry fabric. Bridget is one crafty lady who is the co-owner of one of my favorite Ottawa boutiques - Workshop - on Dalhousie Street. She had oodles of beautiful fabrics to choose from - and as we have two windows, a closet and a long set of patio doors to cover, her fantastic supply really came in handy.
Here is a very small sample of Bridget's loot:
After about an hour of drooling over the cornucopia of colours, we picked four bolts to take home and hold up against the wall paint. As we were biking, Josh had to stuff them into his back pack.
The final four (maybe) - just realizing I must be subconsciously drawn to circles...
The more choices you have, the harder it is to come to a decision and be confident about your decision. I'm lucky enough to have a mother-in-law who is very talented with a sewing machine. She's coming to visit soon and we'll be attempting the daunting task of creating our own roman shades. Until then, I'll continue to hum and haw over all this amazing fabric.
