Dogs and good deals

We had a house guest this weekend - a cute little schnauzer named Pepper. Pepper got to meet my parent's poodle, Eddie, and aside from some jealousy on Eddie's part, the two got along famously.

I took a break from dogsitting to check out a few shops on Saturday. My mom and I perused some paint chips at Benjamin Moore, glass tiles at Emerald Tile, lighting at Multi Luminaire and looked at lanterns for my patio at HomeSense.  After spending $14 per square foot on gorgeous glass tile at Olympia Tile, I couldn't help but balk at the idea of paying anywhere from $70-$90 per square foot at Emerald Tile - needless to say we didn't waste much time there.

Where I did find an amazing deal was at HomeSense. I picked up a gorgeous sheet set by Bliss Living for $69.  When I looked it up online later, the Bliss Living website was selling the exact same set for $245 US. I had thought $69 was a great price and seeing that made me feel even better. No cognitive dissonance here! I love the lemon yellow detailing on the flat sheet and pillow cases.

I found my lanterns as well. I picked up two for $20 each and they'll stay inside until the weather warms up a bit.

The next big project I'm looking forward to is fixing up the balcony by adding wood floor tiles, a table and chairs, some flowers and a small vegetable garden. The catch-22 is that as soon as it's warm enough to do this, my partner in crime will be busy with landscaping projects. For now, I'll just drool over this lovely condo balcony from House & Home....

Thanks Tina! I went to the HomeSense on Merivale but there are a few of them in Ottawa. There was one lantern like this one left...but they had tons of other styles as well! Good luck :)
